Coming up soon on here: a review, and then a giveaway, from CSN Stores! It's exciting to see what this conglomerate of over 250 specialized online stores has to offer. They carry tools, fitness equipment, some great kitchen items like top brands of stay-sharp chef's knives, as well as kitchen decor items such as counter height stools. With the holidays advancing, it's a great time to browse and see what catches the eye, and also to look ahead and make a wish list.
The days are getting shorter, but very soon we'll pass the cusp of shortness and they'll start lengthening again! It is magical to me how quickly the light returns here. And with all our south-facing windows in this cabin, if there's light to be gotten and we're home, we get it!
This critical light-tunnel that we're in, and the fact that the shortening and then lengthening are so graphically noticeable, always encourage me to look both back and forward, to what has come before and to where things are headed now.
During the next couple of weeks as we head toward Solstice, I'll bring this up again and share some more reflections. For now, I just feel grateful for my returning health! Hiking the beach today, even though I was hungry because of our tide's timing, I felt energetic and full of desire to move my body. Even a few months ago, I couldn't have gone anywhere if I was hungry and every step on the uneven, pebbly and now, icy, beach, would have chipped away at my spirit. Last year I was eliminating more and more foods and not digesting anything. Today, I'm having the odd banana smoothie and steamed yam and feeling fairly good about it!
I'm looking forward to continued improvement in this regard, and also to managing my time better and doing more of the most important things -- creative writing, spiritual practice, fellowship.
What are the most important things for you? What are you looking back on and forward to?
