Sorry to be cranky. For some related humor, here's an old post from almost two years ago in which I make fun of the notion of a picture being worth a thousand words...
My Pinterest board so far is at this link.
Here are some of the important pictures:
Because words are really more important to me than pictures. This little note hangs prominently in my space, next to a reminder from my Naturopath about not skipping my meds, advice and quotations and encouragement from writers, etc. It's always a question worth asking.
My fluffy duster--
--I've posted before about how I had to have this duster when I found it at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It soothes my ragged edges at times--it's in my lap right now. I'm thinking maybe I need to take it with me when I go out and about this week. I'm on a short fuse, ragged all around, and almost afraid to be with people in case I "go off."
Acrobatic crows in one of the rowan trees outside our window...
Look how fearlessly they hang upside down! The calm of sunset and the self-assuredness of the birds, trusting the tree to bend with them, trusting their bodies to bend with the tree, knowing they can fly away at any time...it's inspiring and calming to me.
A couple food-related pictures--carrot 'slaw for breakfast--
In a time when I have no idea what to eat, a good reminder that this is a breakfast that's worked well lately. I picked this picture because I see both raisins and goji berries in this bowl, whereas lately a few chopped up versions of one or the other at most would be all I'd put. A reminder that "both" is ok!
And...the food scale!
Wonderful little device that it is, I'm not a huge fan of how much I'm needing to use it at the moment. However, it is a helper, and it is entirely objective.
What visual items are inspiring or helpful to YOU? I hope I'm not sounding too cranky--I'll cuddle with my duster and go do some writing now...
Acrobatic crows - amazing! love that shot! once you play around with pinterest some, it will get easier :)

I share a dislike for pinterest. I enjoy my own photos but stealing people's from around the internet seems suspect to me.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with that duster. ;-)
bitt--yes, I don't get that part of pinterest at all! I've only put my own photos up so far--am I supposed to nab other people's too? I've seen people snarking on people posting their own stuff--just don't get it at all.

ReplyDeletethese captchas captivate me, thought I'd share. :P
lol on the captchas! They drive me nuts sometimes, but they can be funny too...
DeleteI am not visual, either! Terrible at home decor or picture arrangement or visualizing how something might look in my head.
ReplyDeleteBut I love Pinterest for the shallow reason that it helps me organize clothing I'd like to buy because I'm EXTREMELY picky about what I wear and can never find anything to my exacting standards. I also made a pinboard for Matilda to look at while I was in Chicago for AWP and it's full of funny/cute pictures of things she likes. Sometimes we geek out together and look at all of them, too.
Carrie, I love your applications of Pinterest--especially the sweet thing you did for Matilda while you were gone.
DeleteHome decor? I can't even--it's so embarrassing how bad I am at that. As for clothes, I'm even worse--and I don't know that I would be helped by looking at pictures of them either. But we love to shop at Value Village whenever we go to Anchorage...
